High Yield Bonds
High yield bonds are those that are rated below investment grade, which will pay higher yields but are considerably more prone to be affected by interest rate risk or credit risk, and carry a higher risk of default. These bonds are often referred to as "junk bonds." Generally, pension funds and institutional investors are prohibited from investing in anything that is not investment grade rated.
